People are constantly looking for more honesty in advertising and Science World in vancouver is finally giving the people what they want, whats more honest than hard, straight forward facts. The facts that they have plastered all over the city are actually very intriguing, I can guarantee theres at least one fact in the pictures below that will shock you in some way. The pictures really prove that science isnt really as boring as most people think.

Send Your Facebook On Holiday
There are so many people out there that would kill to go on holiday, but could never afford it, well Capetown tourism could give you the next best thing. With Cape Town tourism you can send your Facebook profile on holiday to Cape Town, they basically update your profile with pictures taken all over Capetown, making it look like you're actually there, people that have already signed up for this campaign have actually had people asking them what their holiday was like. This is a great way to advertise a city and has actually proven to be very successful.
Google Outside
How many times a day do you wonder about something then proceed to whip out your smartphone and quickly google it. Well with the collaboration of Google and R/GA London you wont even have to do the last two steps. There are now outdoor panels all over London on bus stops and train stations at 160 sites, providing real time weather and travel updates and even information on local curiosities.
Real Life Instagram
Real Life Instagram is a project that was launched by Brazilian artist Bruno Ribeiro. As Instagram is famous for its many filters that make your photographs look that much better, Bruno has gone around the city of London sticking up physical filters that everyone can take pictures of, pots up and hashtag #RealLifeInstagram. I love campaigns and projects like this, I think getting the public involved is the best way to spread the word.
Wonga Taking It Too Far
12 year old Dennis Earle, was contacted by popular loan company Wonga, urging him to take out a payday loan, even offering him a special discount. Its a very good thing Dennis is a sensible child and went to his parents first, I cant imagine how many other 12 year olds have put there parents in debt taking out a Wonga loan. Wonga really shouldn't be allowed to contact any under the age of 18, especially seeing as they clearly state that anyone wanting to take a loan has to be over the age of 18.
Bieber Selfies
With the success of application Instagram and young peoples sudden increase in vanity, the word 'selfie' has actually made it into the dictionary. With so many people taking selfies these days and Justin Bieber having so much influence over young people, it only make sense that he created his own app just for selfies. To be honest I don't see this becoming anything as big as Instagram, but it will probably become something very big for all the Justin Bieber fans out there.
The Glass Beach
Who would have ever thought that humans dumping massive amounts of rubbish on a beach would have such a beautiful outcome. Fort Bragg, California, formerly a dumping ground is now a glass beach. A section of the beach has been sectioned off to preserve its beauty. This is definitely one of earths hidden beauties that everyone should have on their bucket list.
Dancers Among Us
How many times has your favourite song come on in public and you've had to fight the urge to dance like no one was watching. Well the dancers in the pictures below didn't have to fight any urges, Photographer Jordan Matter has done what everyone else was afraid to. This photography is great, it gives me a sense of freedom, automatically bringing a smile to my face.

Face Art
Artist Valeriya Kutsan decided to do something different and paint old famous paintings on he faces of models, the models were then photographed by Alexander Khokhlov. I think this a very create and different piece of art work and its really inspires me to think outside the box and do something different.
Hidden Graffiti Art
One of the ugliest neighbourhoods in Germany has been given a little makeover, the neighbourhood has been made beautiful with a little bit of hidden graffiti. Street art duo Zebrating have painted on the many fences and grids all over that part of the city to create art that can only be appreciated from certain angles. Even though this graffiti doesn't have a particular message behind it, I still think its great to have something nice to look at on your way to work everyday.

Chest hair coat anyone?
Im pretty sure the fashion industry has officially run out of idea, who in the world would want to purchase a fur coat made entirely of a mans chest hair? Imagine the hair shedding all over your house. The coat was actually commissioned by Wing Co, a popular milk drink for men, as a way to protest against "manning-down". The fur coat took about 200 hours to create and consists of over a million single strands of chest hair, you can get your very own for $3,900.

The Floating Lamp
Wouldn't it be cool if all your furniture was just floating in place instead of just sitting there on the floor? How each would redecorating your bedroom be? I present to you the Levitron Lamp, its not quite floating, but part of it is which is still pretty impressive. Not only does the top half of the lamp float, but it can also be replaced with any other item (as long as it weighs more than 13 ounces). However the Levitron Lamp isn't very cheap at the price of $129.
Fitbug Orb
The fitbug orb is basically a wearable healthy tracker, its features packed but not too expensive at the same time. It is also very light, you can wear it on your wrist, belt or dangling from a lanyard. Its a lot better than your average health tracking device and for a much cheaper price of $49.95.
Caffeine Shisha
No spill, no refill design, no tobacco, no nicotine, no bad smell and best of all NO CALORIES! It puffs out smoke just like any other e-cigarette or shisha stick, but instead of inhaling tobacco, you inhale caffeine and taurine. Just 20 puffs is equivalent to drinking an energy drink and is actually more efficient that drinking caffeine as it goes straight to the brain. There is a total of 300 puffs in each stick and the caffeine effects last for 25-35 minutes.
The Impossible Instant Lab
The impossible instant lab prints pictures directly from your iphone or ipod touch with out using any ink! After taking a picture, you simply place your phone on top of the device, press eject and voila you have an instant picture printed. I think this invention will bring back the concept of having photo albums, which is some thing i think needs to be kept alive. Its not very cheap but i think as it gets more popular the price will go down from $299
Say Goodbye To Packed Wallets
I don't think I know anyone that doesn't have a ridiculous amount of cards packed into their wallet, funny thing is they don't even need half of them. Well wethere you need all the cards in your wallet or not, the coin is definitely something that can help everyone. The little card shaped piece of plastic in the video below can hold the details of every one of the cards in your packet wallet. The coin not only saves space but it is also very easy to use. Just incase you were wondering about what happens if you lose it or it is stolen, don't fret there is an app that links your phone to the coin, if they are ever too far away from each other you will be alerted. You can get yours today for the price of $50.
A little bit of natural art
I randomly stumbled upon this picture and thought it was pretty cool. Rice paddy farmers in china have created giant murals by planting little purple and yellow kodaimai rice along with their local green leafed tsugaru.
Slow down
How many amazing things do you walk past without even giving it a second look on a daily basis? Take a minute to read whats written under that image below, it really makes you think about my previous question.
spotify
Upcoming music streaming app Spotify is no longer charging users $10 a month to use the app on their mobiles and tablets, it is now free. Spotify allows users to stream and listen to all kinds of music along with all the song in their itunes. Users can follow their friends, various playlists it also allows people discover and share new music. Spotify gives money to the artists who have their music on their system, this is great and I think it might eventually put a stop to all the illegal downloading.

Taking gaming to the gym
No More Fat Talk
Special K has released a new campaign, to get women to stop 'fat talking' and asking them to love their bodies. The personal approach they have taken speaks right to the women watching making them feel like they're having a one to one conversation, which is very effective. Celebrities such as Tyra Banks have also jumped on the Fat Talk bandwagon.
No more lonely people at christmas
Ikea has launched a great new campaign, helping out all the lonely people on christmas day. Everyone has the opportunity to register as either a guest or a host on Christmas day, basically the registered hosts will host the registered lonely guests in their homes on christmas day. Not only is this a great way to promote their brand, but its a great way of bringing people together.
A real rags to riches story
Iron man goes to Mars
Egypt finally sees snow after 100 years
It hasn't snowed in egypt for 100 years, that all changed when it started snowing in Egypt yesterday. Social networks were flooded with pictures of the white blanket that covered egypt. This was definitely a magical day for the people of Egypt who had never seen such a thing, but In areas like Palestine people were caught off guard. The united nations have expressed their concern for refugees caught in the cold.
Instagram is taking on twitter and snapchat
Instagram has now given users the opportunity to send direct messages and pictures to people using their app. Both twitter and snapchat have this feature available to their users. I personally think with all these updates, all apps will be the same in a few years, the only thing different being their names.
Merry Christmas From Beyonce
The real life 21 jump street
Just like in the 80s TV show and the recent movie 21 jump street, 2 police officers went undercover as students for a semester, ending in 25 students being arrest for drugs such as cocaine, meth and marihuana. Arrests took place at 2 Riverside County schools, Perris High School in Perris and Paloma Valley High School in Menifee.
How to make a computer
Kano is a kit that teaches kids how to make their own computer and code, all while have fun at the same time. This london based project is proving to be quite the success and is high in demand, to date this project has raised over $1 million. The founders of Kano, cousins Alex and Saul Klein and their friend Yonatan Raz-Fridman, were inspired to create a computer kids could teach themselves how to use by Saul's seven year old son Micah. Kano is currently available in English, Arabic, Spanish and Mandarin. This going to be a great way to prepare children for the increasingly technologized future.
Its amazing what you can do with an empty juice carton...
A designer by the name of Ed Chew decided to help out the planet a little with his TetraBox Lamp. The lamp is made completely out of old used juice cartons, cleverly recycled and folded into a lamp. I think this great, a lot more designers need to be looking at ways they can use recycled objects in their designs. This needs to become a big trend in the future.
100 Years In 100 Seconds
4 Graffiti Artists. 1 Abandoned Warehouse. Unlimited Paint.
Graffiti artists Sofles, Fintan Magee, Treas and Quench had access to an unlimited amount of paint and were given an abandoned warehouse, you can guess what happened next. Graffiti is one of my favourite forms of art, especially when there is a message in the artwork. This video definitely got some of my creative juices flowing.

The first time you'll actually watch the whole flight safety video
Virgin Airlines have just changed the game when it comes to flight safety videos, For the first time in my life I have actually been entertained and wanted to watch a flight safety video. Even the whole musical approach isn't for everyone, I think most people will definitely enjoy this, It also gives a more light-hearted approach to flying for those who are afraid to fly.
connectv
With the massive success of the new application Vine, which allows users to watch and make their own 6 second videos. ConnecTV is trying to become the Vine for TV's best moments. I personally this watching TV with the world has become a bit part of western culture, especially with the use of twitter, whenever the most popular TV shows and events are shown on TV the whole country seems to be watching and commenting as they watch on Twitter. With this new App viewers can now share clips of the TV they are already commenting about, making the experience even better.
People on Vine are constantly recording clips off of their television screens, which can be quite a task with all the rewinding, trying to get the timing right, this App is just going to make life a lot easier for those people. Users are able to go on to this App, find the clips they just watched on television and edit it down to a short clip. I also think this will change the way people watch TV.
The shelves have eyes
You could now be allowing your local supermarket to study your shopping habits while also allowing them to know your gender and age. Big Supermarkets are now using Microsoft Kinect to record your gender and age and they proceed to record your shopping habits.
This is very similar to when Ogilvy Hellman's teamed up in Brazil to print out recipes based on the rest of the items on the receipt whenever someone picked up Hellman's mayonnaise.
This is definitely something that is going to change the future of grocery shopping and supermarkets, however I'm still not sure if this will benefit everyone or just make grocery shopping really annoying.

remote control tourist
How great would it be to be able to have a in-depth preview of your holiday destination, almost like your very own simulation. Well a remote control tourist gets pretty damn close. Tourists now have the option of experiencing Melbourne as is they were a tourist themselves before they even get on the flight. This project involves two people would are taking requests (via Twitter, Facebook and remotecontroltourist.com) from people all over the world to visit different parts of the city; their adventures are recorded and streamed live using helmet mounted cameras. Fans have also requested random acts of kindness such as giving strangers hugs and flowers.
This is probably the best way for a country or city to advertise itself, without letting people see too much, this project is allowing people to discover Melbourne from the comfort of their homes. I'm sure this project has sparked a lot of interest in the minds of anyone interested in going to Melbourne as well as people who have never even considered it. This will definitely be a massive trend in the near future.

Would you turn a blind eye?
Definitely in my top 10 adverts is the 'Blind eye' advertisement released to support women's aid and stop female abuse. The advert is unlike anything I've watched before, it is a 3D advert that has two completely different stories showing at the same time. Because not everyone has a 3D TV yet, this advert is only shown before 3D cinema movies. The Advert basically instructs you to watch the advert with one eye closed, switching eyes as throughout the advert to see both sides of the story, giving the audience the option to turn a blind eye.
I think the whole concept behind this advert is brilliant, it really gets the viewer thinking about whether they would turn a blind eye if they saw a woman being abused, personally it really got me thinking and genuinely wanting to make a difference.

no woman no drive
This YouTube parody 'No woman, No drive' by Saudi comedian Alaa Wardi has gone viral, not only in Saudi Arabia but all over the world. Alaa Wardi has created his own version of 'No woman, No cry', originally by Bob Marley, mocking the law against women being able to drive in Saudi Arabia.
Even though this is no specific law against women driving in Saudi Arabia, women are still refused a license. On the 26th of October a group of Saudi females got together and held a protest again the ban on women drivers.
I think this viral video is a great way to get people's attention, especially young people as they are the ones who are most likely to stand up and make a difference, young people are also the future leaders. The video also educates people around the world of the Saudi culture, young as well as old. I think viral videos such as this one are the best way to get people's attention and will be used more and more in the future.

The car that lasts 100 years
Designer Loren Kulesus has come up with a concept for a Thorium fuelled Cadillac car that last up to 100 years with out maintenance or gas. Amazingly, Thorium can produce more energy than 28,000 litres of Petrol, just 8 grams of it would be enough to power a vehicle for it's entire life. If this concept does become a major part of future transport, Autralia will be in a great position of power as they have the second highest level of Thorium in the world.
This concept could have a fantastic effect on our future, especially as it is a great way to save energy and resources. I love the futuristic look of it as well.
Humans Of New York
Creator of the popular Facebook and Instagram pages has just released his first 'humans of new york' book. If you haven't already heard of or seen these pages; HONY is basically a page created by photographer Brandon Stanton who travels the streets of New York photographing random people. He then asks them a bit about themselves and posts the most interesting part of their conversation alongside their picture on the Facebook/ Instagram page.
As a fan of the HONY pages, I think this is a great concept, it reminds me that there are so many different kinds of interesting and sometimes even inspiring people out there, HONY always brings a smile to my face. I definitely need to get my hands on a copy of that book; would be something great to keep on the coffee table.

Li-Fi
Scientists in China have created a new lightbulb that emits wifi. These wifi-emitting light bulbs actually work better than the average wifi connection in China and supposedly use up less energy. These 'Li-fi' bulbs have microchips embedded into them which produces a signal. One light bulb can provide wifi for up to 4 computers at once, using light signals instead of radio waves.
Everything is getting smaller
As things get more and more modern they also seem to get smaller and smaller; and living spaces are definitely no exception to this. Homes, especially in the larger cities, are much smaller than they use to be, however they are not as practical as they could be. Tumidei in Italy have come up with a fantastic solution to this growing issue with smaller housing and no where to put anything. Their brilliant designs make great use of small spaces; I can definitely see a lot of housing looking like this in the near future.
Inspiration at its finest
This video really speaks for itself; one of the most inspiring things I have seen for a while. Inspiring everyone to embrace the limitations and imperfections in life.
The latest event must-have
Photobooths have started to become very popular at big events such as weddings and school proms. Modern Romance Weddings have recently started the new trend of the 'slow-mo video', the link below features an actually couple who were getting married and offered to sample this slow-mo wedding video at their wedding and it was a great success; also a fantastic way for Modern Romance Weddings to advertise. I can definitely see this quickly becoming the new must-have at all major events.
